POST BY: Mr Ron Elliott – introducing the Senior School’s Creative Writing Club

Creative Writing Club … with cake added!
The Creative Writing Society is a place where people of all ages come together to write in both quiet contemplation and noisy collaboration. Frequently, cake is also involved.
The group publishes a magazine, The Stinging Nettle twice per year and it sometimes responds to creative writing competitions that it finds interesting. Readings also take place in the Library, when the group feels it has work that it is ready to share.
Why stinging nettles? Stinging nettles have herbal, healing properties. They are also quite resilient, growing back year after year, even when frustrated gardeners think that they have culled them completely. The plant’s leaves sting, leaving a fleeting but powerful sensation.
