2025’s winter concert took place in the assembly hall at Senior School Voorschoten (SSV), bringing students, staff and parents together for a memorable evening of music and celebration. The event highlighted the hard work and musical prowess of the student performers as well as the dedication of those who helped organise the evening.
In the days leading up to the concert, many students felt uneasy about being on stage. “Before the concert, everybody was nervous because we didn’t know what was coming next,” stated Filipa, a Year 12 student at SSV.
“As soon as I came onto the stage, I realised I just had to do what I’ve been practising.”
Filipa’s experience reflected how preparation helped students overcome their nerves during the performance.

The concert featured several musical groups, with the students playing a wide variety of instruments. Amy, a flute player, shared her excitement about performing:
“I was really looking forwards to performing and showing everyone how great it is to play the flute,”
“It went really well, and I think that was our best performance so far, so I was really pleased.”
Behind the scenes, the students also played an important role in supporting the event. Barbie, a student volunteer, helped with refreshments and shared her enjoyment about being part of the setup: “I enjoyed pouring the drinks and setting up the food. It was so exciting to help set up.” Furthermore, the outstanding student leadership team was there, working closely together to help set up and ensure the event ran smoothly.

For some students, the concert held a deeper personal meaning beyond the performance. Two student leaders, Eliza and Romy, reflected on the importance of being involved in such an event and highlighted how music continues to bring people together over the years.
“Being part of something which had such a massive impact on my childhood made the concert even more special.”
Overall, the winter concert was a successful evening that celebrated talent, teamwork, and school spirit. The performances and behind-the-scenes efforts combined to create a memorable night for everyone involved.
